But to all those who suffer from TDS, cheer up, there is a cure!

But don't take my word for it. Manhattan-based mental health psychotherapist Jonathan Alpert recently claimed that Trump derangement Syndrome, aka, TDS, is in fact very real and very harmful. He also confessed that at first, he thought the term TDS was just a politically motivated term meant to disparage and belittle any and all those who opposed Trump and his MAGA supporters.

But over time, he became a believer. At least in the debilitating power of this syndrome and its very real and unhealthy effects on his patients and the thousands more who share the same symptoms. They can't sleep. They are non-stop anxiety ridden. They find that even concentrating on work, family, even loved ones, is impossible as their thoughts keep finding their way back to Trump. Heck, even one self-described "Trump Hater" recently posted how she feels triggered by all things Trump and just seeing his image online gives her migraine headaches and her job performance suffers. Another claimed that she can't even take walks with her dog anymore because she can't stop thinking of Trump. And not in a good way.

Talk about renting space in the heads of your opponents. This is more like having a whole bunch of determined and unwashed squatters take over your head. They have set up house and refuse to be evicted.

Seriously bad stuff. So, is there a cure?

Well, yes, but as the French psychiatrists used to say as they nibbled their croissants and smoked their cigarettes in Paris, the patient must first admit that he or she has a problem. Without acknowledgement there can be no first step on the road to recovery.

We've all seen TDS up close, and it can be frightening. Seemingly rational people turning into Linda Blair in the Exorcist spewing bile and hate. Unable to function. Unable to debate or discuss politics or how best to solve the challenges of the day. No matter the starting point, all roads lead back to Trump, and their TDS monster takes over and even the most innocuous conversation turns into a rage-filled, anti-Trump diatribe. Talk about exhausting. For everyone.

So, for the good of our nation and our shared spaces and family gatherings, are there at least steps those of us not suffering from TDS can do for those we care about? Or those we can't avoid try as we may?

Yes. Step one, remind and assure them that the President, despite his trolling, really will only be President for a "mere" 3 more years. Step two, keep encouraging these TDS sufferers to find a non-Trump hobby. Get outdoors more and unplug from the media, social or mainstream since many of these clowns have a vested interest in making sure people get perpetually riled up and angry. And that's no way to live life. Third step, find beauty and peace in others and in nature. Ultimately, he's just a person and there are billions of us. We are here for you, just go ahead and take that first step. You'll feel better. Gosh, we all will.

Just let someone else use the sharp knife to carve the Turkey this Thanksgiving. Just to be safe.
