Or is Socialism an acquired, elite taste to sample in only our largest cities like Chicago or NYC?

By Greg Rabidoux

Darned if we don't all keep reliving history over and over again.

Marxism versus Capitalism. Lenin versus Madison. Mao versus Washington.

It doesn't seem to matter how many times socialism and communism fail. Or how many countries slide right into totalitarian societies after their "can't miss" socialism fails. Russia, Venezuela, Cuba, China. Or how allowing unregulated immigration while giving every newcomer free stuff, while demonizing free markets, while worshipping imposed equity, all the while taxing innovation and wealth to death causes once proud, strong nations to spiral into mediocrity. The UK. France. Germany. Finland, Sweden. Switzerland. Spain. Are we destined to be next?

And now Zohran Mamdani, the 33-year-old charismatic, Muslim youngster with next to no experience, next to no skill-set and next to no, well, know-how of how to run the world's largest city is poised to do just that, run it. Right into the ground, I fear.

He is on the verge of bringing his brand of globalist intifada, antisemitic, Muslim theological driven socialism/communism to the "Big Apple." If he wins, as many expect, he will join fellow Socialists Brandon Johnson as Mayor of Chicago, he of the 8% job approval rating, and Governor of Oregon Tina Kotek, along with his mentors and fellow Socialists Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as the true leaders of what is left of the once relatively reasonable Democratic Party. Moderates Josh Shapiro and John Fetterman of Pennsylvania wish they had the energy, passion, and big donor dollars that modern socialists/communists and anti-Israel activist politicians of their party now exclusively attract.

But they don't. Moderates aren't consumed by the sort of hatred, rage, and revolutionary zeal that the Mamdanis of the world are, so the extremists pass them by and stop where they are welcome. And in Zohran, they have their man. And their new home.

The rest of the Democratic Party today seems either too old, too established, or just plain too cowardly to muster any kind of resistance to this extremist wing of their Party. And those that are trying to stop the socialist avalanche are too discredited to even slow it down.

So, Schumer, Pelosi, Hakeem Jeffries, Eric Adams, and Andrew Cuomo, take a bow, you all helped create, feed, and unleash this brand of Socialism on NYC and the rest of us. Though I doubt it will bother you much as you hide behind the safety, opulence, and comfort of your gated, elitist communities in San Francisco, the Hamptons, and Beverly Hills.

So, here we are again.

Socialists tax and spend and give away free things like there is no tomorrow while the rest of us actually worry about tomorrow and even the day after that. And how all of this can be paid for or not. Their prophets of anti-profits like Bernie and AOC yell and rage about fighting the oligarchy while flying on private jets, wearing designer dresses, staying at luxury hotels, eating gourmet food all the while being driven in chauffeured limos. Modern day socialists sure look as hypocritical and greedy as their predecessors.

I'll be shocked if NYC doesn't become the "Next London." At least they have actual Kings to make fun of across the pond.
