Once upon a time, Whoopi Goldberg was a likable, alien bartender named Guinan who dispensed sage advice along with multi-colored drinks at the "Ten Forward" lounge on the Starship Enterprise. She also played a helpful psychic in the smash hit film Ghost, a singing nun in Sister Act, and Celie, in The Color Purple, the film which helped transform her from a comedian to a serious and successful actress. Bravo.

But that was then. And this is now. That was acting. What Whoopi Goldberg, born Caryn Elaine Johnson, does now on The View, is engage in leftist, performative pandering. Mugging for the cameras as she shamelessly claws at higher TV ratings. And truth and any shred of integrity be damned. Because if Ms. Goldberg truly believes even a fraction of the racist refuse that comes out of her mouth every day, then she needs to get herself back to Ten Forward and ask for a big, frothy cup of wisdom with a heaping side of perspective. Maybe leave room for an apology to the rest of us that are subjected to her willful, harmful, and offensive ignorance. Especially to thousands of Iranian refugees here in America who know what Iranian Ayatollah brutality really means. And how fortunate they are to be here not there.

Here's why. Recently, Whoopi told the token conservative on The View, panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin, to "Not do that...don't go there" when Alyssa attempted to enlighten everyone about what life is really like under a totalitarian, radical Islamist run Iran. Whoopie was having um, nun of it. Whoopi scolded Alyssa, and then indignantly compared being a black person in America to living in Iran. No difference between the two nations she claimed. She even referenced lynching of blacks for good measure.

The fact that she can say this with a straight face should remind all of us just how talented an actress she really was or still is. Or maybe she just no longer has even a tenuous grip on reality. Whoopi has and continues to live the American dream. She is a black multi-millionaire woman who lives a life of luxury. She owns several homes, never wants for any material good, and unlike millions of her fellow Americans of any and no color, she is set for life. And no one should begrudge her success. She didn't become wealthy and famous because she was black. She became wealthy and famous because of her talent not her color.

But Whoopi owes us all an apology. Especially to every freedom loving Iranian longing to crawl out from under the oppressive boot of the Mullahs. I know Guinan would do the right thing. I'm not so sure about this modern version of Whoopi. I do know this-the Mullahs of Iran don't have much of a sense of humor. But Whoopie is more than welcome to leave the safety of her paid TV perch on The View and go to Tehran and find out just how tolerant or not they are there of outspoken, elitist, atheist, black females. You know, cuz apparently, if you believe her, there's no difference between here and there. Don't. Not even for a Star Trek second.
